Regather has rented 57-59 Club Garden Road in Sharrow (S11 8BU) since 2010. It is the heart of everything Regather does – our veg box scheme, kitchen facilities, events venue, making apple juice, community food growing, tree planting, gardening and much, much more.
We need your help to save Regather Works for the community. We are worried that a new owner would be more concerned about making profit from the building and we could face the end of our tenancy.
That is why we are applying for grant funding to help us buy the building. In order to be successful in our grant application we need to show strong community support for this plan.
Help us demonstrate this support, by completing a short survey before 8th April.
Everyone that completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw as a thank you for your time. Details of the prize draw are below.
Regather has faced enormous disruption and challenges since Covid. We lost the ability to host events and our box scheme doubled in size in a week. Just when we thought we had adapted, the cost of living crisis hit and our box scheme has reduced in customers again to more like pre-Covid levels.
In January we began the process of cleaning up the building (soil gets everywhere!) and from April we will once again be hosting events at Club Garden Road. Just as we thought we were turning a corner, we received the bomb shell that the landlord is planning to sell the building.
Our current landlords are supportive of Regather and have kept our rent at comparably low levels for years. This year we will face a rent increase for the remainder of our lease and they have had the building valued ready for selling. They have, however, said that they would be keen for us to buy the building if we can. So now the race is on. We are exploring all options to raise the money needed and the opportunity we are focusing on right now is the Community Ownership Fund. We know we will have stiff competition and our deadlines are very tight. But we are determined to have a go. Wish us luck!
