In October, Regather launched a new project in partnership with the social enterprise Youth Discovery Ventures Ltd, supporting grassroots groups and individuals to make their ideas for social change to become a reality. Funded by UnLtd and Esmee Fairburn, ‘Lead the Change’ is a 2 year project working in Sheffield and Rotherham to provide mentoring and funded support for to deliver projects that create social impact. So far we’ve had a lot of interest in the project across both Sheffield and Rotherham and it’s been great meeting with some amazing individuals over the last 2 months to discuss their ideas for making a positive difference to a social problem that is important to them. Ideas have included providing nutrition and healthy eating workshops for young mums, supporting a clothing exchange to reduce the environmental impact of ‘fast fashion’, offering yoga and relaxation workshops for mental health patients and nurses, and providing DIY and life skills workshops to promote self-reliance in disadvantaged groups. We are looking forward to supporting these individuals to submit an application for mentoring and funding to deliver these projects in the very near future.
