Regather is a Sheffield Co-operative based in Sharrow, which believes everyone should be able to afford decent food that supports local producers, and doesn’t mess up the environment. We have just established a farm to the South of Sheffield, which is currently in conversion to Organic status with the Soil Association, and we’re developing a market garden, agroforestry, fruit trees, polytunnels, wildlife areas, and more.
• Choose from a selection of veg, fruit, eggs, milk, bread, and loads of other local products.
• Produce from the Sheffield Farms goes straight into veg boxes, with other local producers providing contents as far as possible. Bread is baked fresh on the day of collection by Forge Bakehouse.
• Choose weekly or fortnightly deliveries.
• You can tailor a box to suit you.
Order your box by midday on Monday 4 March 2019 online at regather.net/box. Just click on ‘Collect from University of Sheffield’.
Green Impact is a behaviour change programme run by the National Union of Students. It aims to engage staff and students and empower them to make meaningful sustainability changes. As well as encompassing traditional “green initiatives” such as recycling and reducing energy use, Green Impact promotes sustainable society, including health and wellbeing, and community action. The University of Sheffield has been taking part in Green Impact since 2008, and has an innovative projects-based approach that has led to this collaboration.
In October 2018, new research published in the journal Nature offered the most thorough assessment of the environmental impact of food production, concluding that a huge shift away from meat and dairy, towards a more plant-based diet, was essential in western countries, to stave off dangerous climate change.
