NEW: University of Sheffield Collection Point

From 8 March 2019, Regather will be making a weekly veg box delivery to the University of Sheffield Students’ Union!

The collection point is open to students, staff and visitors, and you can choose from UK only, or a plastic free box, as well as fresh bread from Sheffield’s Forge Bakehouse and lots of other local produce.

The University of Sheffield NUS Green Impact programme are making it easy to support local, support the environment and make food more sustainable for Sheffield.

About Regather

Regather is a Sheffield Co-operative based in Sharrow, which believes everyone should be able to afford decent food that supports local producers, and doesn’t mess up the environment. We have just established a farm to the South of Sheffield, which is currently in conversion to Organic status with the Soil Association, and we’re developing a market garden, agroforestry, fruit trees, polytunnels, wildlife areas, and more.

What to do:

• Choose from a selection of veg, fruit, eggs, milk, bread, and loads of other local products.
• Produce from the Sheffield Farms goes straight into veg boxes, with other local producers providing contents as far as possible. Bread is baked fresh on the day of collection by Forge Bakehouse.
• Choose weekly or fortnightly deliveries.
• You can tailor a box to suit you.

Order your box by midday on Monday 4 March 2019 online at regather.net/box. Just click on ‘Collect from University of Sheffield’.

Delivery will be via an electric trike, which will park up on the SU concourse between 12:30 and 13:30 every Friday lunchtime, for you to come and collect your box. Look out for Alberto and the Regather banner.

Green Impact

Green Impact is a behaviour change programme run by the National Union of Students. It aims to engage staff and students and empower them to make meaningful sustainability changes. As well as encompassing traditional “green initiatives” such as recycling and reducing energy use, Green Impact promotes sustainable society, including health and wellbeing, and community action. The University of Sheffield has been taking part in Green Impact since 2008, and has an innovative projects-based approach that has led to this collaboration.

New Research – Environmental Impact

In October 2018, new research published in the journal Nature offered the most thorough assessment of the environmental impact of food production, concluding that a huge shift away from meat and dairy, towards a more plant-based diet, was essential in western countries, to stave off dangerous climate change.

With further questions please email us at info@regather.net or call us on 0114 2731258, or drop by to Alberto and the trike at the concourse, any Friday, from 12:30 – 1:30pm.
