First of all, just in case anyone was worried – we are NOT closing. We asked for urgent help back in April and an absolutely amazing number of you supported us by completing an online survey to evidence the level of community support for Regather to purchase 57-59 Club Garden Road. This was a requirement for the funding bid that we submitted as part of the Community Ownership Fund.
The urgent bits were 1) A VERY tight funding deadline and 2) We need to raise the money soon to buy the building or the landlord will sell it to someone else.
In April, the support that we received was unbelievable and at the time it was probably one of the few things that kept us pushing through to complete the huge funding application and hit the very tight deadline.
The update is that we are still waiting on the result of the funding application. If we are successful, we will have secured 80% of the money required to buy 57-59 Club Garden Road – which would be an absolute game changer for us.
But we also wanted to let you know that if the application is not successful, we will continue to explore options available to us.
One reassuring thing is that we have the full support of our current Landlords and although their plans to sell the building in the near future remain unchanged, they are content to wait to see if we can raise the required funds.
For now, our position as tenants in the building is secure and we have certainty that we will be here at least until 2029.
As soon as we hear the result of the funding application, we will share the news with our amazing supporters.
